WHO AM I?
I’m just a girl, Jamaican by birth // Searching for my purpose on His green earth // Raised in Brooklyn since nineteen eighty-eight // East New York is where we’d congregate // Psychology degree earned from Brooklyn College // Became a proponent of social work to build my knowledge
Was subsequently bitten by the fashion bug // Matriculated at FIT, further enhancing my drug // Graduated with credentials in fashion merchandising // Learned the industry had personalities greatly polarizing // Retreated back into my deeply introverted self // Relocated to Oakland to preserve my mental health
Met some great cronies along this ride // Back in the concrete jungle, where I now reside // Being creative, holding on to the towel // First name Natalia, last name Powell // That’s my government, in case you haven’t heard // My intention is telling stories without words.
